To start with this section, we learn Ingénue makeup - a basic makeup for typical young women on stage. This makeup style emphasizes the actors' natural appearance and features so that the audience can see more clearly. The teacher's assistant instructed us, she tried it on a student, told us what to note, suggested some tips and mistakes that we often made when doing this makeup. Next, we chose the right foundation shade, which is half to one shade darker than our skin to achieve emphasis to ensure that the performers are not washed out by the stage light. On Thursday, we start practicing on ourselves. I was looking forward to it, but I was a bit worried because I didn't know how to do makeup, and I should not put any makeup on with my current skin condition. The provided foundation palette was perfect for this makeup look because it has a high coverage that matches our goals: matte, covering all skin imperfections but still looking natural from an audience's perspective. But this foundation does not work well for me. The cold weather brought down the humidity in the air and my bad behavior of not often drinking water caused my skin to peel off in certain areas of my face such as the forehead and the sides of my nose, which made my facial skin thin and easily to get acne. That's why the foundation usually doesn't look smooth on my skin, and this type of foundation is so thick so my base looks cakey (and perhaps this is an oil-based product - often recommended in stage makeup because it lasts longer and works better than a water-based product, but is also harder to remove; normally I would use a cushion instead of a foundation, it is much thinner so my skin scales won't show much, but it is difficult to achieve the enhancement effect for this look, I will probably have to compensate with the bronzer, contour and highlighter part). I had no trouble with blush, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. But I think I need to practice more with my eyebrows and eyeliner. Overall, I think the workshop has been quite successful for me. I had a lot of fun in the process and I am excited to learn many new things I like. I will try harder in the next practice.
